Managers Update April 2016

Dear All,

Welcome back after our Spring Break,

We have started the term off busy as usual and the children have got straight back into the swing of things. Time is passing quickly and before we know it we will be breaking up for Summer Holiday and saying a sad farewell to our children going to School however, before then we will have lots to do and I have some dates for your diary.

Leading up to Summer we will be having a Sport’s Day and a Summer Trip, Leaver’s concert, dates will follow shortly, and individual children’s annual progress reports will be completed.

The weather is changing and hopefully we will have plenty more sunshine, may I remind you of our policy regarding sun cream, it is your responsibility to ensure your child has sun cream applied before pre-school in a morning, you will need to supply your own bottle in your child’s bag so that if necessary we can reapply at lunchtime before afternoon outside play, please supply sun hats too, named or labeled would be helpful too!

As you know we are always fundraising to continuously improve the resources and facilities for the children, as we are a relatively small setting our fees cover rent, wages and day to day running of the pre-school but for anything over and above we need to generate extra funds by fundraising events as good quality sturdy equipment comes at a price, the outside play area  fixed equipment and flooring cost in the region of £6,000.00 years ago, our robust outside storage £700.00 and solid, secure sandpit £200.00 so it gives you an idea of the kind of money we need to replace or improve our resources.

The good news is that money already raised has paid for new table and chairs for our smaller children and 2 year olds, we are also planning on a new changing station with storage and ladder ( £1,500 which we have already fundraised) to be situated in the accessible toilet which will be beneficial to both children and staff, we are just waiting for maintenance to be carried out to enable this, and the fencing is being changed next week to extend the outside area and allow for extra storage and a mud kitchen, please ask if you would like to know more about ongoing improvements.

This leads me on to our next fundraising events to allow us to continue to provide new and exciting opportunities and resources for the children at pre-school, we really need your support in attending functions, bringing along as many friends and family and spreading the word to encourage people from further afield to attend.

Friday 13th May at the Village Hall 7.30pm is a Whitley Village Race Night,

this is a family evening however,  if you opt for a babysitter there is a bar!! Tickets are just £1 and 50p for children as you will need you pennies if you fancy a flutter on the evening, there will also be heads and tails and a raffle and it looks set to be a good night. The funds from this evening are also helping towards the cost of reroofing the Village Hall.

Thursday 26th May is Fizz Fashion Show

This is a very popular event and has some really nice reasonably priced clothes and accessories so bring anyone you fell may be interested, tickets and information will be available soon from our committee.

Saturday 11th June is Whitley Rose Queen, the pre-school children enjoy a tractor ride as part of the parade and dress up  to be judged for a fun competition, our theme this year is Minibeasts.

A letter with information will be sent to you shortly with ways in which you can help with our sweet jars etc.

Thursday 17th November will be our Winter Wonderland shopping event so put the date in your diary and more information will follow.

I am also arranging a fundraising evening later in the year for a Makaton overview evening where I can invite other pre-schools and schools from the area, this is very kindly being run by Amanda Glennon so a massive thanks to her, I will keep you all updated nearer the time.

Finally, a reminder that Friday 29th April is our last inset day of the year.

Well, I think that’s it for now! Please do not hesitate to ask if you need any more information., thank you for all your continued support

Kind Regards
